Louise captured this photograph at dusk after photographing three generations of family who have left their footprints on the beach below. Lou shares a love of reading books with her three children. One night, after reading Alison Lester's book ‘Magic Beach’ her eldest asked “How does Alison know about Beachport?” She was so confused - this author doesn't know our family… but somehow, she knew all about the time we spent at our Magic Beach?
What an amusing reflection. Each of us who have a deep connection to our slice of the coast, feel that it is so unique to us, yet many of us visit the same shared spaces to have similar experiences, resulting in the same nostalgic reflections. The seaside holds so many significant memories for family, and with each tide, the footprints are washed away for the next family to imprint theirs, making it their Magic Beach too. What a gift it is, to make memories by the seaside.
